On December 11, New Hope Community Church, in collaboration with members from neighboring churches, launched its first street evangelism event at Box Hill Central. Through genuine and heartfelt conversations, the outreach team connected with many passersby, and we celebrate with joy that one individual came to faith in God.

While banners and formal materials were not yet prepared, the brothers and sisters in Christ demonstrated creativity and resourcefulness, effectively sharing the Gospel message with those they encountered. This initiative highlights Melbourne Church’s deepening commitment to reaching young people and others who are seeking to study God’s Word and pursue the path of discipleship.

One New Hope Community Church member shared, “I am excited to announce that this evangelistic outreach will now take place every Wednesday morning. We invite our church community to pray fervently for meaningful encounters, for the hearts of those seeking answers, and for those faithfully preparing to share God’s love with others.”

We give thanks for this opportunity to bring the light of Christ to the streets of Melbourne and pray that God will continue to bless and guide this mission. May many more come to know His love, grace, and hope in the days to come.

On December 10, Melbourne New Hope Church held another session of its growing badminton fellowship, an initiative started by a sister. To improve coordination and communication, a dedicated WeChat group was created to schedule weekly sessions. Through this fellowship, one participant’s friend joined the group and was subsequently invited to attend the Wednesday Bible study.

Church ministers commended this creative and healthy approach to evangelism, highlighting its effectiveness in building relationships and inviting new people into the church community. Recognizing its impact, the church has officially established the badminton fellowship as a recurring event, now held every Tuesday.

Praised to be God for this initiative and the opportunities it provides to connect with others in a fun and welcoming environment. Please pray for this fellowship as it continues to grow and serve as a bridge for sharing the Gospel and fostering community in Christ.

At Deakin University’s Term 4 Orientation Open Day, Christian Chaplain Pastor Daniella presented a welcoming atmosphere as she engaged with new students, observing an increasing diversity among attendees. This year’s orientation saw a significant rise in students from Sri Lanka and Vietnam, reflecting the university’s expanding multicultural environment.

The chaplaincy booth, which featured interactive coloring activities, successfully drew students in for meaningful conversations. Notably, a group of Sri Lankan students, primarily of Buddhist backgrounds, gathered around the table. Despite not being particularly devout, they shared strong values centered on family and community. Though they had only recently met, they quickly bonded, displaying warmth and mutual support reminiscent of long-time friendships. This highlights the chaplaincy’s role in fostering connections and providing a welcoming space for all students.

Chaplain Pastor Daniella Li is aware of the opportunity of cross-cultural evangelism opportunities among the International students on campus. The students who have difficult access to Christian services and Gospel messages are able to have higher exposure to the Christian activities in Australia. The youths who are hesitate to open hearts to the invitation to the knowledge of the Scripture tend to be more receptive to the approach of the missionaries as they are seeking a safe and welcoming community when they study overseas

26 Jan 2024, Deakin University students celebrated Australian Day with a joyous BBQ fellowship at Wattle Park. The occasion was marked not only by the national festivities but also by bidding farewell to Brother Tim, who is set to return to China tomorrow.

In his final moments with the community, Tim extended a warm invitation to two of his Christian friends, creating a meaningful bond by sharing grace together. Among the attendees were Serena and Stanley, residents living just 15 minutes away from New Hope Community Church.

This Australian Day celebration evolved into more than just a casual gathering. Alongside familiar faces like Toni, Ben, and Tim, Serena and Stanley joined the church fellowship for the first time. The spirit of togetherness carried on into the night with a prayer meeting, where everyone, old and new, shared their struggles and prayer topics.

During the gathering, P. Taylor shared insights from John 14:11-14, emphasizing Jesus’s encouragement to have faith and believe in the ability to do greater things. “It’s been a long time since we’ve experienced such warm fellowship, and it was truly refreshing to witness new faces being added to our church family throughout the week,” remarked Pastor Daniella.

Brisbane church met a South African native named Kungawo who is currently working. He gave thanks and a blessing to the minister and missionary who actively doing evangelism.

He came to Australia with his mother and younger brother 5 years ago as African refugees. The name “Kungawo” in English means “power of God”, this is his birth name. He testified that in this modern world, people are busy working and making money, but eventually, everyone will face death. He also shared his story that his mum asked him and his brother to go to church on Sunday many times, but they both refused.

During the conversation, he realized it is important to spend time with God. He gave thanks to the minister to make a wake-up call for him to connect with God. The minister encouraged him to attend the Sunday Service and suggested he be active in the life of faith so his young brother will follow as well.

The minister also shared that we are currently raising funds for the schools in South Africa this month. He almost got tears in his eyes as he knows how much African people need education and supports, and then he thanks and a blessing.

Let us all pray for lost souls in the local mission and global fundraising for South African schools.

Melbourne New Hope Community Church evangelized in the local shopping center and Deakin University campus and experienced the guidance of the Holy Spirit to cast the nets into the deep water.

Four members joined the street and campus evangelism. In the beginning, they felt hard to open mouth, but very soon the Spirit has placed the conviction and courage in their hearts, so they boldly approached people with sharp and deep questions.

“As I entered the topic in a straightforward way, I realized people’s spirit responded immediately since their spirits are seeking the truth.” one member reflected after having conversations with several people.

Four members have been evangelizing longer hours than they planned to because they felt great joy in sharing the Gospel. And God has paved the way: the weather turned out to be very good even though the weather forecast said it might be rainy; Deakin University, which already started its holiday, was holding a research program and many students gathered in the campus; moreover, the Spirit has poured the joy of salvation into the hearts of the members that they felt the more they share the Word of God, the more strength they received.

It is prayed that the continuous outreach efforts will bear abundant fruit.

Melbourne mission leaders have set daily evangelism time slots, to make sure every day there will be evangelism ongoing and prayer support happening simultaneously.

Pastor Faith Yang and Pastor Wells Wang will be two major leading people going for campus evangelism. All the members and Bible study students are highly encouraged to participate with the mission leaders. It is also announced to the church congregation about the daily evangelism time slots, so more can provide prayer support when the outreach is taking place.

The daily evangelism aims to make spiritual breakthroughs in three university campuses in Melbourne: The University of Melbourne, The Swinburne University of Technology and Deakin University. By piling up evangelism and prayer efforts it is hoped that the leaders of the universities can be set up and multiple fellowships can be established.

Everyday mission leaders will gather and update the evangelism situation and update the latest spiritual direction with prayer topics. News will be written with the daily progress. Melbourne mission leaders strongly believe that God’s work can be seen every day.

Jubilee Worship Australia held its regular fellowship and rehearsal.

While the Bible sharing time, they meditated on the fourth blessing of the Sermon on the Mount. They could deeply understand that being hunger and thirst for righteousness means waiting and hoping for the kingdom of God, and seeking His Kingdom should be the first to believers. After the meditation on the message, they prayed together that living for His kingdom to be the priority over all things in their lives.

During the rehearsal, they tried to make their original song. One member wrote lyrics themed with the cross and simple melodies. Members actively joined modification of some parts of melodies and harmonies. Till they can complete the song, they’ll continually work together.
